The Trick Behind Eye Catching Walls

Walls are the easiest place to add a little more character, drama and personality to your décor. While a fresh coat of paint can brighten up your home, changing the paint colour, using wallpaper, paneled woodwork, wall decals, wall tiles and wall art are all good ideas to create a more eye-catching wall décor.

Whether you want to make a bold statement or an exotic expression or add some pizazz with textured wallpapers or bright colors, you can achieve your desires with a little balance and a touch of the right design elements. Here are 5 tricks that allow you to create eye-catching walls.

  1. Go Bold

Hate your plain white walls because they're too minimalistic? Time to go bold! Whether you choose a bold single colour or opt for prints and textures, doing something a little different for your walls will go a long way towards creating eye-catching wall décor.

  1. Create A Focal Point

For long walls, it may seem foolhardy to do something dramatic considering the larger surface areas. Don’t fret; this is where focal points come in. From creating an art gallery in a small portion of the wall to wallpapering only a section of the wall or using a wall stencil in order to bring in a motif, your options are vast. When dealing with longer, bigger walls, think of creating a focal point. A fireplace and contemporary mirror art can create a dramatic focal point for a modern decor.

  1. A New Accent Style

Adding an accent wall to an otherwise drab room is an easy way to create eye-catching decor. Choose one wall and turn it into the accent wall. Paint it differently or try a different wall treatment for this space. An accent colour that pairs well with the other neutrals in your room decor is a safe bet. For example, a grey accent wall adds depth, drama and intrigue when the other walls in the room are painted ivory.

  1. Make A Statement

Want to leave a lasting impression with your wall decor? Opt for a signature wall or a statement wall. This wall will create the mood and ambience of the space and also lay the groundwork for choosing other decor accessories in the room. Try arranging your furniture so it will draw attention to your statement wall.

  1. Play With Scale

The eye-catching decor is made a lot easier when you play around with scale. If creating a photo gallery, group large and small frames together for a dynamic effect. Choose large scale floral designs for large white walls and medium scale geometric designs for smaller walls so that it doesn’t lose its impact even when viewed from a distance.
