Do you love wallpaper? Well, wallpaper isn’t just for your walls; in fact, there are many clever ways to dress up your home with some boldly patterned paper over a long weekend! So, instead of splurging a fortune on new artwork or paint jobs in order to infuse some colour and pattern into your boring décor, try these 10 DIY tricks with wallpaper!

1. Smarten Up Drawers
A smart way to give your room a little colour and decor without too much of an effort is to add a few colour coordinated bits of wallpaper to your dresser drawers. It's simple enough to do on your own and won't cost too much either.

The biggest bonus point - you can create a bold and vibrant look for an old chest of drawers to infuse new life into it; at a fraction of the cost for a new one! Go ahead and wallpaper the insides too, while you are at it!

2. Revamp a Bookshelf/ Kitchen Cabinet
If you want to add some colour and personality to an old bookshelf or your kitchen, line the back of the cabinets with leftover wallpaper.

Thanks to bold, oversized patterns, what once was a lacklustre bookcase/kitchen cabinet will become an eye-catching focal point filled with a family's favourite objects or your cutlery.

3. Make Your Own Focal Artwork
If you love the idea of converting wallpaper into wall art, here is another brilliant little trick - Salvage an old window, paint the frame, and use wallpaper samples inside the sections to create your own piece of stunning focal artwork!

You could hang it above your bed, in the living room or in a corridor to help lighten things up.

4. Redo an Old File Cabinet
Hate that ugly file cabinet in your office that is hard to do away with because it’s the only thing that has a lock? A simple solution would be to use some leftover wallpaper on the outside, like you would your drawer set, and turn it into a trendy piece of office furniture!

Be sure to pick a colour/ theme that suits your office decor.

5. Create a Cozy Reading nook
You might not want to experiment with wallpapering an entire focal wall, but what about the teeny-tiny wall under the staircase? If you’ve always wanted a cosy little reading nook there, but simply haven’t gotten around to getting a customised seating to fit in, simply wallpaper the space and add a matching chair and perhaps a little lamp.

What you need to keep in mind is that if this is is to be your "reading" nook, the wallpaper of choice should be a little bright but not too jarring. Choose subtle but light colours so that the lamp light will make the area brighter and easier to read.

6. Brighten Up The Stairs
If you are having trouble deciding where in your home you can bring in pattern and colour, think about those boring stairs!
