Love vintage décor? Some of us want to find a beautiful place to live in. And then, there are those of us who want to turn the place we live in beautiful – through our own effort. If you fall into the latter category, here are 6 breathtaking DIY vintage décor ideas to turn your sparse home into a vintage haven! These tricks are so simple, they barely cost anything extra but put the spotlight in your décor (and of course, on your DIY talents!)
1. Turn an Old piece of Furniture into a Star
If you have an old chest of drawers, chose a bright, bold colour and get painting. In fact, you don’t even need vintage furniture to get the look! Any old chest will work just fine, as long as you create a rustic look by sanding down the edges for an authentic, old-worldly charm. You could do the same for a vintage dining table, desk, old chair, or side table.

3. Transform the Balcony or Porch
If your porch or balcony is in need of some help, create a vintage theme here too! Let the junk piled into this area look ‘deliberate’, like the photo below. An old crib has turned into a vintage style bench, old chair makes a lovely landscaped accessory, and old hanging lanterns will also add light in the evenings. What’s not to love!

4. Jewellery Box Turned Vanity
Have one of those large jewellery boxes lying around unused? Here’s a cool idea - mount it on the wall next to the sink and turn it into a vanity as well as towel holder! Most vintage style jewellery boxes have a beautiful design and carvings that go very well with a vintage decor theme too.

5. Shutter Wall Art
Who said impressive wall art needs to be expensive? Use old shutters to decorate your walls! Line the mirror with lace or pretty paper and hang them like a frame on the wall. Or paint them a bright hue and lean them against the wall, alongside impressive vintage candelabra on a side table.

6. Try a Doorknob Coat Rack
If you love collecting old, rustic doorknobs, now is the time to put them to use. Take a wooden board mounted on a wall as your base, and screw each knob on it - to work as coat hangers and hooks for hanging bags, umbrellas, hats and more right at your entrance door.
