Re-using mason jars is all the rage these days, since these are easy to collect and can be used in a variety of creative ways. You don’t really have to go out and buy mason jars as these are commonly used to pack jams, pickles, sauces, pasta paste, canned goods, olives and jalapenos, cheese spreads, honey and fruit syrups. In fact, you probably have a ton sitting in your cupboard!

If you love DIY projects that allow you to recycle canning jars and turn them into something pretty, you’ll love these simple ideas on how to turn mason jars into vases!

1. Vintage Décor Vases
Want to add a pretty vase to every room – as a dining table centrepiece, displayed on your bedside table and also one for the console table in the hallway? Pick any 3 mason jars of varying heights and sizes and get started! Wash and dry jars and then paint them in different colours, whatever suits your fancy. Once they dry, sand the jars, removing as much paint as desired for a rustic effect!

2. Hanging Vases
Want a hanging vase? It’s really easy! Use a metal wire ring to circle the mouth of the jar and make tight loops on two sides, which will support the hanging twine. Add water, flowers and then hang the vase in your living room or beside a balcony seating arrangement.

3. Mason Jar Picture Vase
Here is another brilliant idea that turns a mere glass mason jar into a vase cum picture frame. Using painters tape and bright paint, colour the jar in a pretty hue and stick a cute photo on the body. A stunning coffee table centrepiece!

4. Gold Leaf Mason Jar Vase
If you love to fill your house with flowers but want a decorative touch, a touch of gold is perfect for any room or colour scheme you may have going. Spray paint jars of various shapes and sizes with gold paint and create stripes or any other pattern you want by taping up area to be left unpainted. The result is stunning and sophisticated!

5. Mason Jar Hanging Garden
Now one hanging mason jar is beautiful, but a bunch of them to create a garden is even better! You will need to use your handyman skills for this idea that uses a plank of wood, hose clamps and screws to fix jars on a wooden plank that fits into any wall. Determine where the centre of the hose clamp is and where you will be attaching it to the board. Carefully drill a hole wide enough for the screw to fit through the hose clamp. Carefully screw the hose clamp to the board and then ease it closed around the jars

6. Colourful Wrapped Mason Jar Vases
This idea relies on some embroidered thread in bright colours, jute twine, a tube of glue and some clear glass jars. Dab some craft glue at the starting point and begin wrapping the thread around the jars, glueing ever so often. Remember to alternate between the thread and the twine, creating a different look for each jar.

7. Simplistic Touch Vases
Clear mason jars make beautiful vases all by themselves. For this trick, you need to tie up jute twine around the mouth of jars to give them a rustic look and hang some glass beads at the end for decoration. To add some colour, put black and white pebbles inside the jars, fill up with water, and then add the flowers. And you’re done!
